Questions
Will these make my feet stronger?
No shoe can promise that. What a barefoot-style shoe does is get out of the way: a wide toe box, a level zero-drop platform and a flexible sole let your feet move and work the way they are built to, instead of a stiff, cushioned shoe doing that work for them. Strength comes from using your feet. If you want a plan, ask a physical therapist about foot exercises that suit you.
Are cushioned shoes bad for my feet?
Not for everyone, and some people need them. The point our physical therapists make is that heavy cushioning, a raised heel and a narrow toe box change how your foot meets the ground. If you want more ground feel and more room for your toes, a barefoot-style shoe like the Adapt Runner is one way to get it.
I've worn cushioned shoes for years. How do I switch?
Go gradually. Start with short stretches of everyday wear, like walks and errands, and add time over a few weeks before longer walks or runs. Your feet and calves may feel like they have been working, which is normal. If anything hurts, ease off and check in with your physical therapist or doctor.
I have pain or an injury. Should I talk to my PT first?
Yes. Flux makes footwear, not a treatment, and this page is not medical advice. If you have pain, an injury or a foot condition, talk to your physical therapist or doctor before changing your footwear.
How does it fit?
The Adapt Runner runs small, so size up by ½. The anatomically shaped toe box gives your toes room to spread, and sizes are listed in both men’s and women’s. Not quite right? Exchanges are free.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Yes. The Adapt Runner is HSA/FSA-eligible through Truemed. Choose Truemed at checkout and answer a short health survey. If you qualify, you can pay with your HSA or FSA card, which saves an average of 30%.
Are these physical therapists paid to recommend Flux?
Yes. Dr. Kristen Bos, Dr. Bianca Beldini and Dr. Britney Powers are paid partners of Flux Footwear. Their opinions are their own. They are not your physical therapist, and nothing on this page is medical advice.
